I read from Homer to Eusebius at undergraduate level, got a first-class honours in Studies in Religion which was honours in Greek by another name (Menander, Josephus, Origen, and Eusebius were read), and did a PhD in Greek. The thesis was entitled "Early Christian Gospels: their Production and Transmission". It looked at all extant gospel manuscripts, canonical and non-canonical, dated up to the early fourth century. I have taught Greek and Hebrew for six years.
